Notes from the meeting room: Charlie Cook, Rightcharge

Charlie Cook

Meeting chaired by: Charlie Cook, CEO and founder of Rightcharge.co.uk.

Why was the meeting called and who was in attendance?

Electric vehicle energy saving tariffs update, via Zoom, Charlie Cook and James Taylor, Marketing lead.

What was top of the agenda?

A recent research by TLR highlighted that reduced annual costs was a key factor for EV drivers. There is growing confusion over home charging and a lack of clear information from dealerships which were also indicated as main barriers.

What was decided as a result of the meeting?

Rightcharge needs to support dealers and car buyers who want clear information from dealerships regarding at home charging. Dealers’ knowledge surrounding such issues is vital to boosting customers’ confidence in making the switch. Our meeting discussed how we can help dealers’ provide better EV education as it’s they who will be fundamental in positively influencing buyers’ attitudes regarding switching to EVs.

Any other business?

Our own evidence suggests that confidence in EVs is growing astronomically, with EV drivers planning to drive more than their their petrol counterparts. We feel the EVs will reach a tipping point soon with the right charging tariff helping to ‘reduce drivers’ energy bills by over £600 per year and this also bodes well for the environment.

When is the next meeting, and what is it about?

Towards the end of May to see how dealers, customers and the UK have reacted to lockdown easing and look at forming alliances with new partners.
