When Bristo’s of Ipswich sold a new Renault Master Chassis Cab to a brand new customer, the last thing they expected was that he would return to the dealership to make a sales pitch of his own
But they were so impressed with his idea to turn his new specially-converted 2.5l diesel van into a mobile advertising unit, that Bristo’s booked one of the first advertising slots to promote its range of models.
Derek Probitt’s DP Advertising van has now spent a week following set routes around Ipswich and surrounding areas, letting people know what offers are available at Bristo’s including the Le Cheque cash back deal.
And to prove that mobile advertising is not a thing of the past in the internet age, a state-of-the-art tracking system meant Bristo’s was able to log-on and see where the van was at any time during the week.
Bristo’s managing director Ian Head comments: “We were a little surprised to have a sales pitch used on us for a change, but we thought the idea was such a good one that we had to go for it. We advertise in a number of ways, including in newspapers and online, but we are always looking for new angles.
“It is also good for Bristo’s to help a new businessman like Derek get his company off the ground.”
