Blue Bell Crewe launched the new Mini convertible with the official preview of a new locally-made film produced by the Cooperative British Youth Film Academy and supported by some big names in the industry.
The showroom was converted into a mini drive-in cinema for the evening, with several Minis on display, giving around 60 guests the chance to be first to view the new car as well as The School That Roared.
Dealer principal Barry Holt explains: “As well as the appearance of a BMW 7 series loaned by Blue Bell, there is a surprise link with the ingenious use of Mini in the film. We saw it as an opportunity to support talented individuals. It’s enabled us to generate some very good publicity and to put on a unique evening for our customers.”
The dealership also held a treasure hunt for around 20 potential new owners over the same weekend. “They really enjoyed it,” says Barry. “It was a different way of test driving.”
The feedback from the whole weekend was very positive, he adds. “We’d invited customers from our database and also placed a story in the local paper, which attracted other Mini fans. They saw it as something a bit different and not too far to travel to. Sales have increased as a result and are continuing – used as well as new.”
